DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
On the night of his first film premiere at Rice University, Saqib Siddik felt something that would change his life. “As the lights went down, I felt chills,” he recalls. “My hair was standing on end. I felt the adrenaline shooting through every inch of my body, and I loved it.” Inspired by the films of Steven Spielberg and M. Night Shyamalan, Saqib dedicated himself to the goal of entertaining movie-going audiences with films that appeal to the inner-child in all of us. What began as an undergraduate hobby turned into a lifelong ambition. “I want to make movies that make people laugh, make them cry, and make them happy to be alive.” While books, DVD commentaries and web surfing provided his initial training, Saqib decided a formal education in film production would best allow him to entertain the masses.
After graduating from Rice University with a B.A. in Kinesiology, Saqib enrolled in the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, one of the nation’s top film schools. There, he honed his craft under the guidance of accomplished filmmakers such as John Badham, Dezso Magyar, Gil Bettman, and David Kost. Upon acceptance into Chapman University, he was awarded a Dodge Fellowship for Graduate Film Study. He also won a Francis D. Lyon Scholarship from the Phi Delta Theta Educational Foundation. He graduated from Chapman University with an M.F.A. in Film Production. Saqib wrote, directed, and composed music for the short film, "The Passing," which has already screened in three film festivals.
